Mina Roarke had always been told she was special. In what way, she never fully understood until circumstances led her down a path of adrenaline-charged danger, blazing sexual heat and ultimate betrayal.
Mathias, a warrior for a secret shifter race known as The Coteri, has been ordered to protect Mina at all costs. Although his oath to protect her is paramount, can he rein in his animal instincts long enough to not claim the one person he’s forbidden to have?

This book is the first published release for the co-writing team of Gayle Donnelly and Robyn Mackenzie. It is also the first in a trilogy– A paranormal story revolved around secrets, shifters, and of course…betrayals.
Mina Roarke, an only child, finds herself at a major crossroads in her life after the death of her mother.
Her best friend, Chloe, convinces her to travel to Germany, where she will meet her father –a man she thought was dead.
Thus, begins the string of lies and betrayals that will forever change the course of Mina’s life.
This story is slow to start–as per usual of any series. There is a lot of world-building, important background information, and the players revealed in the series. But if you brush that aside, this paranormal world of shifters has a solid foundation, and I can’t wait to read more of this series.
We get to meet Mathias, the General of the Coteri, who is sent to watch over Mina. He is a shifter. What he shifts into tickled my funny bone. **NO SPOILERS HERE, FOLKS** He is drawn to Mina, unable to fight their obvious, and very strong, chemistry. He cannot afford to get involved with the King’s daughter –and he’ll likely be punished if he chooses to act on his feelings that he has for her.
Then, you meet the other members of this race. Treymane, and Talon…just to name a few.
Trey’s character is warm and charming-funny. And his protective nature made me feel all sorts of warm fuzzies.
Talon–I have to say he made my knees weak and my girly bits light up in flames. His quiet strength shouted ALPHA thoughout the pages. And I am happy to say that his book is next.
Regardless of the fact that this story takes a while to build up–the ending result was packed with action. I am a huge lover of action and suspense with my romance. So, although there are some fighting scenes, I would LOVE for these two authors to give me some more (and I have it on good authority, that there will be) fight scenes.
There is also hot, smexy times and a very sensual love scene that had my toes curling and uttering a sigh. The steamy, sexual tension between Mina and Mathias is HAWT.
There is also a HUGE twist that had me cursing the writer(s). In fact, my exact words were, “Why that little b***h!”….LOL. I love it when an author can throw me a curve ball like that. Nothing sucks worse than a predictable plot.
WARNING–there is a hard-to-read scene that takes place between the villian, Luca, and Mina. It may be difficult for some to read. I thought that the scene was important to the story–you really, REALLY, loathe Luca after reading it….and I wanted to nail his balls to the wall….so I feel that Donnelly accomplished her goal : A nasty, evil, souless villian that you want to crucify.
My favorite part about this story? There are loose-ends. Yes, you get an HEA for Mathia and Mina. But you can see that things will NOT be easy. There is still more to come. And that is what a great writer should do–make you want more.

Gayle Donnelly and Robyn Mackenzie both hail from the Midwest. Writing partners as well as friends (perhaps even sisters in another life), both are married and each has two wonderful children. The similarities don’t stop there. Both earned degrees in English education, both have a profound weakness for Starbucks coffee, and both are completely captivated by the ethereal beauty found in the Pacific Northwest. Their individual passions for writing and storytelling, led them to create Infinite Betrayal, the first book in their Infinity Series.
Synopsis: Mina Roarke had always been told she was special.
As we believe it has been said before, this book was a non-stop adrenaline charge from the moment it started until the moment it ended. The story follows Mina Roarke through life’s ups and downs. You suffer with her losses and trying to find purpose in life afterward, you agonize with her over hard decisions regarding the unknowns in her life, and you get on board with her best friend pushing her in the right direction for the decisions she just is not able to make on her own. You will FEEL her emotion, page by page, and empathize with what she is going through step by step, and yes, you will need a tissue once in awhile! The places described throughout the book make you want to go out and purchase your plane tickets and get hotel reservations immediately. Everything is so incredibly vivid and captivating. You want to be Mina Roarke and go where she is going, meet who she is meeting… despite what she goes through, and what she goes through is a non-stop life changing episode of epidemic proportion. When you meet Mathias, Mathias is a man torn between honor and duty as he does his best to see to fruition that which he was charged to do; protect Mina at all costs. Add in the unrelenting attraction for Mina that pulls him in 100 other directions and you can’t help but feel for him and love him right away. You cheer for him to keep Mina out of danger, but you deperately want him to keep his heart safe as well. The book also introduces the reader to a unique race of shapeshifters, which makes this paranormal romance refreshing and new. These shapeshifters are split into two sects, and the high voltage interaction of the hero sect and its nemesis is enough to keep the reader captivated even outside of the hero/ heroine/romance-adventure plotline.
LITERAL ADDICTION Paranormal Book Club gives Infinite Betrayal 5 Skulls for its creativity, dynamic plot, entrancing characters, and everything else that made us not want to put the book down, be angry when it ended, and yearn for Infinity #2.
We highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a ‘grab you by the seat and don’t let go’ paranormal romance! Hooray for Gayle and Robyn and their breakout hit!
